ApplicationXtender Auditing and Retention Software Now that you have started using Documentum ApplicationXtender, and have discovered that you can use the Audit Log feature to keep track of users activities, but you have a couple of issues. How do you look at your auditing information? You can connect to the table with Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel, maybe even Crystal Reports. Do you really want to sit down and type out SQL queries to parse the information? Why learn how to create these complex connections for a simple report; it is almost not worth it. Maybe you already can do this, but now the question is, how do I get it formatted in an easy to read report and how do I give my users easy access to live data in this report? Well, now you have a much easier way of doing this. Our ApplicationXtender Auditing and Retention application will do all of this complicated connecting, searching and relating for you. All you have to do is setup a connection to your ApplicationXtender database, and then choose the options you want for your report. There are even several built-in reports that let you easily access the most common information. This version is a complete re-write of our original AX Audit Report Generator application, and now utilizes Microsoft Reporting technologies to make your reports visually appealing and dynamic. Some of the new features included with this version include the ability to create multiple database connections and automatic purging of audit records based on the event type and application.
Document Retention The latest addition to our Auditing system is the introduction of document retention. Unlike the Software Retention module for ApplicationXtender, our system will allow you the power to create retention policies the way you see fit. Here are some of the features that sets our product aside:
Undelete Documents Have you ever wished that there was a Recycle Bin for ApplicationXtender? Well, now there is. With AX Auditing and Retention, you can setup your system so that all document or page deletions can be easily undone. No more having to try to recover from a database or tape backup. Easily view a list of deleted documents or pages, and choose to restore, purge, or let the system auto purge them after a time frame you specify.
And a Few More Necessary Features! Last Modified and Last Accessed Fields Wouldn't it be nice to have a field that showed you the last time a document was last modified or just accessed? Especially when you start getting into using retention based on these values? Using AX Auditing and Retention, you now have this ability. User Permission Reporting Now you have the ability to easily generate a report showing you exactly what permissions each user has to each application within your ApplicationXtender system. No more trying to click through the security configuration screens or trying to parse XML files. Easily create reports within seconds that show either CM or Windows users that have access, and what access they have, to each application in your ApplicationXtender system. Index Modification History While not yet complete, with the new version of AX Auditing and Retention, you now have the ability to track changes to document index values within your ApplicationXtender system. Currently we are working on the reporting procedures of this feature; however the current version will allow you to turn on this feature and start tracking it.
Currently this application is supported for ApplicationXtender 6.0 through 8.0 running on both Microsoft SQL and Oracle database providers. MySQL will be comming soon.
